The Big Plan for The Bays Precinct

UrbanGrowth NSW has developed an educational package to help primary school students understand the process of urban transformation in The Bays Precinct, Sydney.

A recent commitment to introducing urban and regional planning studies into the early high school curriculum demonstrates the need to present planning concepts to students. This package introduces the idea of urban transformation and changing communities to a younger age group. The big plan for The Bays Precinct, Sydney uses story telling, characters and illustrated maps to explain the potential future change in the area.

Teachers’ notes

To facilitate discussion and highlight particular areas of the document, a set of teachers’ notes has been developed. This has been divided into guided learning for early and later primary stages and provides suggested questions, prompts and activities.

We are also pleased to be supporting Observatory Hill Environmental Education Centre’s fieldwork program Humans Shape Places for Stage 3 Geography. We are exploring other opportunities to partner with Observatory Hill Environmental Education Centre to deliver programs suitable for other age groups.
