Frequently Asked Questions

What and where is The Bays Precinct, Sydney?

The Bays Precinct is a unique place. It is a story of Sydney’s many parts – commerce, industry, leisure, housing and water activities. It sits at the intersection of the CBD, Sydney’s magnificent and iconic harbour and the beginning of Sydney’s expansive western suburbs.

The Bays Precinct consists of approximately 95 hectares of government owned land, some of it degraded and underutilised, 5.5 kilometres of harbour and 94 hectares of waterways, and sits within 2 kilometres of the Sydney CBD. It includes sites such as the heritage-listed White Bay Power Station, Glebe Island, White Bay, Rozelle Bay, Rozelle Rail Yards and Blackwattle Bay including the Sydney Fish Market.

This collection of bays, waterways and land uses together present possibly the most exciting, ambitious and visionary urban transformation and city building opportunity available in the world today.
